9.00 p.m. - Felicitation to Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Padma Bhushan, Vainika Kaayaka Sironmani, Madurai Shri. T.N.Seshagopalan followed by rendering of Pancharathna krithis by artists.

10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon - Veena concert by Madurai Sri.T.N.Seshagopalan accompanied by Guruvaayoor Sri.Durai(Mridangam) & Sr.E.M.Subramanian(Ghatam).

2.00p.m. to 3.30p.m. - Violin concert by C.A.Rajasekhar & 30 disciples & Neyveli Sri.Ramkumar(Mrindangam).

3.30p.m. to 5.00p.m. – Sri. M.A.Manimaaran(Vocal), Sri.M.R.Gopinath(Violin), Kumbakonam Sri.Saravanan(Mridangam), Papanasam Sri.Sethuraman(Kanjira) & Sri.E.M.Subramaniam(Ghatam).

Grand Evening!!!! - “GURUVE CHARANAM” - A tribute to the musicians of the past by their sishyas.

Tambaram Music Club(Ph: 22392885) proudly released the book “Guruve Charanam” – Golden words of many senior musicians as interviewed by Smt.Choodamani Bashyam & Shri. S.Bashyam(Secretary, TMC). The function started with Mrs.Malathi Panchanathan lighting the kuthuvilakku & prayer song rendered by Kum.Girija & Kum.Pushya(Tambaram Sisters). The book was released by Shri.V.V.Sundaram (Cleveland) & first copy was received by Shri.V.Ramnarayan, Editor-in-Chief, SRUTI magazine.

“Guruve Charanam” is created with an idea to make the young, upcoming artists aware of the olden days’ gurukula vaasa , guru-sishya bandham & many other interesting chapters that existed then. The way the present day senior vidwans & vidhushis got trained in the art & how much they have toiled to reach this height, is well expressed in the book. The compilation was done by Ms.Krishangini. It’s a must that today’s budding artists read through this book & understand the concept of guru-bakthi.

Music veterans like Shri.T.K.Murthy(Mridangist), Shri.P.S.Narayanaswamy(Vocalist), Shri.Vikku Vinayakaram(Ghatam maestro), Dr.N.Ramani(Flute maestro) attended the function & appreciated the service of the sabha rendered to the field of music. This added a colourful feather to the cap of TMC. Mr.Vijaya Thiruvengadam(Ex-executive , AIR), who instilled the idea, of such a book, in the mind of TMC, also joined the artists that evening.

The function was followed by a Namasankeerthanam concert by Dr.Ganesh & party.

Release of "GURUVE CHARANAM"

Tambaram Music Club solicits your august presence on the ocassion of the release of the book "GURUVE CHARANAM" (Golden words of senior musicians as interviewed by Smt. & Shri. S.Bashyam and compiled & edited by Ms.Krishnangini), on 20th December 2009 at 4.15 p.m.

Smt.Malathi Panchanathan will be lighting the kuthuvilakku & prayer song will be rendered by Tambaram Sisters(Girija & Pushya).

Book will be released by Sri.V.V.Sundaram(Cleveland) & first copy will be received by Sri.V.Ramnarayan(Editor in Chief, SRUTI)


This will be followed by Namasankeerthanam by Dr. Ganesh & party.
